Two Tone was a store that existed in New Jersey from 1979-2008 and sold merch that catered to the punk, skinhead and new wave subcultures. A brief history of the store will appear in the upcoming Issue 1.5 of The Coldest.

Perhaps most remembered from their ads in punk zines and their huge mailorder catalog, here is a scan of that catalog from Fall 1999, courtesy of Eric Bratchny (thanks!).

I am not absolutely sure. He would be about 76 now I think. I heard from someone that he was still alive as of 2 years ago but have been unable to track him down unfortunately. He doesn’t do email or the internet I’ve heard.

Hey, just as an update, I heard from someone that they went to Iggy’s place in North Jersey and brought a printout of the Two Tone store history I wrote. Iggy is 77 now. I am not sure about Roma. They divorced in the early 1990s. Last I’ve been able to confirm about Roma was that she ran a second Two Tone store after they divorced but this also closed in the early 1990s. I’ve heard that she may have possibly opened another store in Virginia around 1996, but haven’t been able to track down any trace of the place.

  3. […] A catalog from 1999 reveals a surprising amount of inventory. Flight jackets, Fred Perry shirts, bondage pants, Ranger boots, miniskirts and studded belts are just some of the fashion they offered. Looking for music? Well, they had CDs from The Oppressed, Cock Sparrer, Discharge and Trojan Records. T-shirts? Infa-Riot, Sex Pistols, Crass and Madness were available. Patches & pins? Too many to mention. Posters & vinyl? Check. Books? They carried Spirit of 69, Skinhead Nation and The Two Tone Story. […]
