Loud Fast Rules! was a mass produced punk magazine with glossy covers and newsprint insides that came out in 2005 when lots of independent magazines and punk zines were starting to fold. According to Interpunk, it was published by AMP and each issue came with a CD of the artists covered in that specific issue. It ran for at least 6 issues, possibly 7 or 8, and seemed to end sometime around 2008 or 2009.

LFR mostly focused on pop-punk, street punk and 80s hardcore. But it also paid attention to some oi. With its glossy covers, coverage of major label bands and lack of politics and inter-scene gazing, it differed from the existing punk zines at the time such as Punk Planet, Maximum Rock N Roll, Slug & Lettuce and HeartattaCk.

While I preferred the previously mentioned zines, LFR did introduce me to some albums through it’s regular ‘The Year’s Best Albums’ series focusing on the 1980s. It also introduced me to Cock Sparrer in 2006 with Lars Frederiksen’s interview with the band. I’ve scanned that interview which you can find below.
