In March 2020…you know what happened. A global pandemic spread around the world. In a desperate attempt to stop or slow down the virus, many places rolled out stay-at-home orders and shutdowns of what they deemed non-essential parts of our society. As this was happening, I started to get into shooting film. Here are a few shots I or my girlfriend took within the first 6 months of COVID.

Me, in Elgin, IL (April 2020)
Shot with Holga 120 camera on Ilford HP5 film
We drove out to this far northwest suburb to essentially walk around and look at things. Not much was open. But it was a welcome break from being stuck at home.
A. Vargas, Naperville, IL (April 2020)
Shot with Holga 120 camera on Portra 400 film
Another drive out to the suburbs to walk around during the shutdowns
Shutdown daycare (April 2020), Taken with Kodak Disposable Camera
Graffiti, Logan Square, Chicago, IL (May 2020), Shot with Kodak Disposable Camera
Record store, Avondale, Chicago, IL (May 2020), Shot with Kodak Disposable Camera
Protest in the Loop (June 2020), Taken with Kodak Disposable Camera
